SUCCESS

WE DID IT.    WE ACTUALLY DID IT!  OLD SCHOOL, AS MY DOCTOR SAID, WORKED FOR ME BIG TIME.  My blood sugar has not been this good for quite a few years.  From  A1C of 8 plus, down to A1C of 7.2.  My physician said

"That's very acceptable>"

Quite frankly, I look better and feel better.

This is what "old school" is.

Before every meal I inject, (yes inject) (R) insulin to cover the meals and any high glucose reading, using a sliding scale.  Think that's all?  Well, before bed I inject, (yes again) N insulin to take me through the night.  I'm not using numbers of amounts of insulin on this blog because that's up to you and the doctor.   I wouldn't like anyone to use the numbers or amounts I'm using to do their own insulin treatments.

Now, down the road a piece, I may indeed go back onto the pump but, funny, even taking all this time to do insulin injections and food counting, it feels really good to be off the pump.  Even with the continued attention to the time and the injections, I feel liberated.  Just a change I guess but it is nice for now.  Twenty years ago, the pump liberated me from the injections.  I had been a diabetic 50 years at that time.  Now, it's the other way around and the liberation is in just being different.  Nice we can change back and forth.

Can just go into the pool without thinking of using a plug, shutting down the pump, priming it again later.  Gosh.  It's like being a kid again.  Yes, this is what I've done since I'm 5 years old and believe it or not, I'm going to be 76 next week!  What a nice birthday.

Now I am having some trouble with my eyes, not for the first time.  Not important except I'm hoping some healing may occur.  Leaking macular are not a good diagnosis however.  I think I can drive perhaps for another year.  Maybe less.  However, I'm grateful for every day I have good vision.

Suddenly I'm running out of time here.  Have to go to physical therapy.  Another story.  Another time.

Life is wonderful.  There's a little glimmer on the horizon for possibly more energy, maybe the dance, who knows?!

Talk again soon and talk about diet with "old school" therapy.

Love you all................
