June 28, 2016

Last blog revealed I was horrified that my blood sugar A1C was so high.  I'll tell you now, at that time it was 8!  Never....couldn't believe it.  Now this is what I've done, and TOMORROW, I'm going for my appointment to see what this "Going Back to Basics" has done for me.  I have been so disciplined that if it doesn't, or hasn't worked big time, there is no option.

I told my doctor, 1.  I'm getting off the pump.  2.  Going back to 4 units of Regular insulin before each meal and 3 units of N before bed.  He was quite upset.  Said I should have much more insulin than that.  He started me on 120 units of N before bed and wanted me to take more before each meal.

I have always told all my doctors, "I will never agree to do something and then not do it  I will tell you if I'm not doing it because if I am dragged into a hospital for something, I don't want you to have the wrong information".

I told him to

"Please humor me.  I'll take 5 R before meals and to start, just 8 units of R at bedtime.  He was annoyed (first time in 20 years) but said,

"Call me tomorrow.

I did have to call him first thing in the morning after injecting 8 units of N before bed.  I was up the entire night, just eating, juice with sugar cubes, juice, 'Peeps" which are those Easter candies.  All in all, I had about 240 carbs through the night and was still plummeting.  He said to go to 3 units of N before bed.

the last 3 months have been mostly uneventful.  Tomorrow is the day.  I do feel somewhat better but not going to expound on any of this until tomorrow.  If it's as good as I expect, I'll tell all.

Love you all............
