Michael, Defnder of the Angels

Michael:  Defender of the Angels

Michael, our first born, came into this world August 26, 1960, a month after our first anniversary.  He was 8lbs 4oz and was 'in trouble' right from birth.  Diabetic mothers often give birth to babies with Hyaline Membrane Disease.  It's some form of membrane over their lungs that causes them  difficulty breathing and they often succumb to 'drowning'.  Michael made it

Michael:, a joy to my life and still seems to be a 'defender of the angels'.

He is married, has a son and lives here n Florida where I now reside, though too far away to see him or the family more than a time or two a year.

When he was around 13, I met a woman who couldn't seem to be away from her kids.  It was at that time I started teaching Michael to be independent, cook, sew, do everything he had to for taking care of himself.   .I did say,

"You don't want to have to get married just because you don't know how to take care of yourself."

He made me very proud, making good life choices such as going into the Air Force when he decided he didn't care for college.  He 'informed' me of that decision and I was really stunned but knew he made a good choice. He was able to leave home, rent an apartment for he and his wife when they married .He was 'taking care of business' very well. He made some other changes to his life and became an LPN and he and his wife, also an LPN are now retired.   Michael too, a very good man like his father.

Mike does not have diabetes as the medical community predicted he might  but does suffer from Parkinson-White Syndrome of the heart.  It's sort of a A-fib problem which was helped with an ablation and he does not have many episodes of A-fib nor does it affect his life often.

Next blog for Steven Paul and Daniel Robert......two more sons....
