YOU'RE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT AND IT'S NOT WORKING

The Doctor, by Sir Luke Fildes (1891)Image via WikipediaAfter many years of being a diabetic, probably 40 or more, I was tired.  No matter what I ate or didn't eat, no matter how much or how little exercise I did and no matter how much I watched my blood sugars, I was still having trouble controlling high glucose readings.  I was about to see a new physician when my doctor retired.

"You're doing everything right and it's not working!"

He was the first one to ever say that .  It was ture.  My relationship with him lasted until I moved to Florida and I thank him to this day for taking the guilt off me.  I was always so hard on myself thinking it was I who had done something wrong.

In the 'old days', it was always the patient or caretaker who made some mistake.  New times.  This doctor was the beginning of that for me.  It helped me to forgive myself and even forgive my body for the event that seemed to have no answer.  It was much easier to call my doctor and tell him/her what was happening and get help resolving it because they didn't automatically ask,

"What did you do?"

Be kind to yourself and know that sometimes, "You do everything right and it's not working"

With love...................
