MUSIC DOES SOOTHE

August 20, 2012

Music seems to be a comfort for the body and soul.  Haven't you noticed that music of your choice seems to make you feel lighter?

I hope I can live long enough to try an idea of mine.  When I hear that someone has had a stroke, I would like to get them as soon as possible (Doctor's permission) to Waltz.  Yes, Waltz.  For some reason when dancing with some of our 'challanged people' at senior centers and rehab areas, I notice the Waltz is what gives them the easiest mode of moving.  Even had a man who Waltzed with his walker until suddenly he could do it on his own.

I did some research on Dance Theraqpy and there is an actual position called Dance Therapist.  However, just to enroll into the program, one must already have a Masters or PhD.  That's not going to happen for me.

There's something about the Waltz beat or the 3/4 timing ...I wonder if there's a syncopation in the brain that hooks into that.

There are ways to stimulate the heart with electricity to start it beating in a regular rhythm rather than A-fib.  Well, it made me wonder about the brain; the electrical flow getting back to normalcy.  I've been researching if there is a 'sound' that emanates from the brain as the beating does from the heart.

I know there's a sonar sound that can hear whales and porpoises.  How about something that can hear the brain?  I keep searching for that.  Have to see if I can get in touch with some of the medical people I've worked with through the years.  There's a neurologist....

Just wanted to put this out there.  Fascinating....

Keep the music...................
