I'M BACK!

Well, for heaven's sake, it's almost the end of July and I have not been writing ANYTHING!  The reason being, I didn't think I had anything of importance to say.  I realize that anything I tell you about myself doesn't have to feel 'important' but just true.

I got a job.

Money has been tgight.  My brother has been helping me and I realized that it doesn't feel good to not be able to take care of myself.  So, I decided I had to get a part time job and I was not going to give up.  It took three months of putting applications on the computer once very day, going out to individual places and just letting people know I was looking.  The first thing I did was to change my 'cutsey' message on my telephone to something more professional.  I know that's one of the first places someone interacts when responding to a job inquiry.  All applications I've put out on line ALWAYS ask for a telephone number.  when I was in  management, that's one of the first things I did; call someone I was interested in hiring.

I laugh thinking of it.  I wouldn't allow myself to start the day until I had done at least one thing to pursue a job.   No matter where I went; to any store, public place, even the hardware store, I would dress appropriately in case there was an opportunity to introduce myself  and see if there were any openings.  People from Publix Grocery Store, Edible Assortments,   and  all stores at the mall, recognize and greet me.  From the way I am dressed now, they all know I'm working and I'm feeling good about it.

This is how it happened.  I went into Edible Assortments quite a few times for gifts around the Christmas season last year.  (2011)  Each time I was in there I would say, "let me kinow when you have an opening.  I'm anxious to work with you!"  finally they gave me an application to fill out and I worked for 5 days for the Valentine holiday rush.  Wonderful place.  Starting at 4am was a little much for me but since they only call you in as a 'crew' when holidays come around, I thought I could do it.  Meanwhile, I kept looking.  Then one day, after leaving my resume at a popular health food store, I went into my dance studio >  I was serious about a job because I wanted to continue my joy of dancing.  While on the dance floor with one of the coaches, the phone was ringing.  I said to him,

"You should hire me to answer your phones so you can give dance lessons without inturruption"
