Many diabetics have visual deficiencies.
Glucose meters:
1. When using control solutions, it's often difficult to get that drop onto the glucose stick. If you don't drop the solution 'just right', the machine reads ERROR. I've wasted more than a few sticks that way.
Drop a Drop ......................of solution onto your finger nail. Touch the stick to the drop and no more wasted glucose sticks! Works every time.
2. Five second rule...: Often we stick ourselves more than once or change the lancet to a much higher puncture number in order to obtain blood for a finger stick. Before you 'restick', count slowly to 5. Then milk the finger again. The blood from capillaries takes 5 seconds or so to rise to the surface.
This was a hint from a glucose meter representative many years ago. It works! Not always, but most of the time.
Then I say a little 'thank you'.
