I was about 16. I was at my high school watching a boy I liked running track practice. He came over to sit with me for a few minutes and I complained,
"I 'm so sick of watching what I eat. I'd love to have all those little snacks the kids have!"
(Many of the kids had bags of potato chips and corn chips)
"Me too" he said.
"Are you a diabetic?"
"No, I want to take care of my body. I have to keep my weight stable for track."
I still remember that moment. It made me r ealize that I WANTED TO BE FIT TOO! I wanted to 'run and play' and be well. I had a choice in how to do that. It was one of the defining moments in my life when my attitude about food was created. It has served me well.
I will be sharing more LIGHT BULB MOMENTS EVERY THURSDAY.
Constance............11/25/10 Thanksgiving Day.
I like the notion of "Light Bulb Moments." It's amazing how even the most minor event or conversation can sometimes shape our lives so completely.
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog and the posts that will follow :) That's a wonderful perspective on food.
